IFET S.A.

The Institute of Pharmaceutical Research & Technology (IFET S.A.) is a Single-Member Société Anonyme, established in 2000 after the conversion of the IFET Public Law Legal Entity. It was founded in 1991 through the merger of the then National Pharmaceutical Industry (EF) and the State Pharmaceutical Warehouse (KF), and in 2001 it absorbed Pharmetrica, and in 2009 ELBIONY.

The Institute of Pharmaceutical Research & Technology (IFET S.A.) is the specialized public body that ensures patients’ access to medicines of critical therapeutic value, which are not commercially available in Greece. As a subsidiary of the National Organization for Medicines, IFET operates with the Patient as its priority, with the exclusive mission of safeguarding Public Health by providing services that cover critical needs of the National Health System.

With activities ranging from the import of medicines in short supply or unavailable formulations, to the production of unique and irreplaceable medicines and antidotes, IFET plays a pivotal role daily in the safe pharmaceutical coverage of thousands of patients across the country.

In parallel, it provides services for the sterilization of medical devices, the management of hazardous pharmaceutical waste, as well as wholesale and retail trade of pharmaceutical products and diagnostics. It also develops research activities using innovative technologies in the field of Pharmaceutical Research, supporting the development of new methodologies and enhancing the quality of services provided.

Eleftheria Tokatlidi

Eleftheria Tokatlidi has been serving as Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Technology (IFET) since November 2023.

She is a lawyer and a graduate of the Faculty of Law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), and holds a Master’s degree in “Local and Regional Development and Local Government” from an Interuniversity Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program (IIPP).

She served for many years as a Municipal Councilor of the Municipality of Chaidari and, among other roles, has held the positions of President of the Municipal Council and Deputy Mayor for Social Services and Solidarity of the Municipality of Chaidari. She speaks English and Italian.

Diomedes Lymperis

Diomedes Lymperis serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of IFET S.A., with extensive experience in organizational management, strategic planning in the healthcare sector, and regulatory oversight of the pharmaceutical market. He is a graduate of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Ioannina and holds two postgraduate degrees from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens: one in “Health Services Management – Health Informatics” from the School of Health Sciences, and another in “Strategic Management and Competitiveness” from the Department of Economics.

During his professional career, he has held positions of high responsibility in both the public and private sectors. As Executive Vice President of the National Organization for Medicines (EOF), he played a key role in the regulatory oversight of the pharmaceutical market, strengthening control and compliance mechanisms, and safeguarding public health. He has significant experience in the private sector, having been active in leading companies in the pharmaceutical industry and the mineral fuels sector, developing strong skills in strategic management, the administration of complex organizations, and the implementation of business transformations. He has actively contributed to the formulation and implementation of health policies, the management of crises in the pharmaceutical sector, and the strengthening of market adequacy, with an emphasis on operational resilience and ensuring uninterrupted patient access to critical therapies. He has represented Greece in European organizations and institutional fora, participating in the shaping of policies and regulatory frameworks at the European Union level.

As Chairman of the Board of Directors of IFET S.A., he performs a supervisory and strategic role, with a focus on corporate governance, compliance, risk management, and the company’s sustainable development, strengthening its contribution as a critical pillar in ensuring the adequacy of medicines and supporting the national healthcare system.
