Pharmaceutical Coverage Division

The Pharmaceutical Coverage Division  of IFET S.A. has innovative high-tech products that improve the patients’ quality of life and daily life, are necessary for Public Health and are not available from pharmaceutical companies either because they are not of commercial interest or because they are new medicines that have not yet been released in our country.

Our work requires awareness and serious planning, and our primary concern is to import proprietary medicinal products that combine excellent quality with the lowest possible cost. The Pharmaceutical Coverage Division identifies solutions in cooperation with Purchases & Medicine Procurement Division and Suppliers rated to a high standard. Our Division markets domestically about 700 different formulations annually that are considered necessary for public health and cover the following situations:

Permanent - Emergency Coverage Medicines:
•Coverage the needs of the EOPYY, Wholesalers and Hospitals (Public & Private).
•Mainly imported from European countries and from whereverthey are available (after approval by the National Organization of Medicines).
•Maintenance of security stocks as well as stocks for emergencies and market shortages, under a mandate from the competent state authorities (ΕΟΦ, Υπουργείο Υγείας, ΕΟΔΥ).
 
Particular Hospital Coverage Medicines:
•Coverage the needs of Hospitals (Public & Private).
•Mainly imported from European countries and from whereverthey are available (after approval by the National Organization of Medicines).
•Medicines for rare diseases (Orphans) are imported for the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of life-threatening or very serious conditions, while their prevalence in the European Union is less than 5 cases per 10,000 people.
•To date, more than 7,500 rare diseases have been recorded.
 
Medicines for EOPYY Pharmacies & Private Pharmacies (individual orders):
•Medicines imported in order to cover individual needs on behalf of EOPYY and Private pharmacies.

The importation and distribution of all proprietary medicinal products is made under a mandate from EOF, which determines the quantities and their price in the Greek market.
