and Supply Directorate
Based on its organizational structure, the IFET S.A. Procurement and Supply Directorate consists of two distinct and significant organizational units and is responsible for:
through the Pharmaceutical Procurement Department, providing procurement services for pharmaceutical products within the Company’s remit, specifically rare and unique medicines not available on the Greek market, with the aim of meeting public health needs and granting patients access to new and innovative therapies
and through the Tenders and Contracts Department, providing services for conducting tenders, drafting, and executing contracts for all types of supplies, goods, and services, with the aim of meeting the needs for the smooth operation of all company units
Pharmaceutical Procurement Department:
The Pharmaceutical Procurement Department continuously conducts market research procedures for medicines to find the lowest possible prices for medicines, benefiting both the state and patients, and to expand the register of pharmaceutical suppliers.
The extended market research procedures are carried out using significant digital databases and tools.
One of these tools is the new “Dynamic Procurement System”, the platform https://suppliers.www.ifet.gr, through which IFET S.A. procures, with absolute transparency, speed, and reliability, unique and irreplaceable medicines, innovative high-tech medicines, and all medicines necessary for Public Health that are not available from pharmaceutical companies in the Greek market.
Through the “Dynamic Procurement System” platform, the creation of new collaborations for the supply of medicines has become easier and more direct. Any interested supplier can register on it and, once certified, submit offers for the requested medicines. The expansion of the company’s pharmaceutical supplier register contributes to developing competition in offers and obtaining alternative offers for each medicine.
The functionalities of the above platform are expected to expand in the near future to include the evaluation of collaborating pharmaceutical suppliers, utilizing objective data (such as delivery times) that will shape their reliability and effectiveness, so that they are taken into account in further collaboration with IFET S.A.
The above functions achieve critical corporate objectives such as:
- the reduction of medicine prices, which reflects IFET S.A.’s commitment to reducing pharmaceutical expenditure.
For example, the average purchase price in 2024 has decreased by approximately 20% compared to 2023, while over €48 million were saved in total.
Also, comparing purchases for the corresponding periods of 2024 – 2025, it appears that the total cost of purchases has decreased by €34.4 million, mainly due to reductions in supply prices.
- the reduction of shortages, which reflects IFET S.A.’s commitment to ensuring adequate access to medicines for Greek patients. For example:
In 2023, medicines for Permanent and Emergency Coverage with zero stock averaged 58.
In 2024, the situation improved significantly, with scarce medicines with zero stock decreasing to 44, while
In 2025, medicines with zero stock average 20.
- the enhancement of access to critical therapies for rare diseases, which reflects IFET S.A.’s commitment to ensuring Greek patients’ access to new innovative therapies.
Tenders and Contracts Department
The Tenders and Contracts Department implements all necessary services and procurements for the company’s operation, applying the provisions of the relevant legal framework of Law 4412/16, “Public Contracts for Works, Supplies and Services (adaptation to Directives 2014/24/EU and 2014/25/EU)”, as amended and in force, by conducting either direct awards through Invitation procedures or electronic tenders via ESHIDIS.
Through the above functions of the Department, the critical corporate objective of providing all types of supplies, goods, and services is achieved, aiming to cover the needs for the smooth operation of all company units, by fulfilling their requests for minor procurements and services, by implementing direct award procedures, and by conducting electronic tenders via ESHIDIS.
